In Standard Japanese, respect is usually expressed with forms like 〜(ら)れる or 〜ていらっしゃる.

In Kansai Japanese, the equivalent respectful forms are 〜はる, 〜てはる, and 〜てはります.

アヤ and ユウト are close friends.

They are at the station, waiting for their older friend リョウ.

アヤ：今日、リョウ先輩も来はるん？

Is Ryo-senpai coming too today?

ユウト：来はるって。さっき「ちょい遅れる」ってLINEくれはったわ。

（きはるって。さっきちょいおくれるってらいんくれはったわ。）

Yeah, he is. He messaged that he’ll be a bit late.

アヤ：先輩、いっつもちゃんと連絡くれはるよな。

（せんぱいいっつもちゃんとれんらくくれはるよな。）

He always lets us know, huh.

ユウト：な。ほな先に駅前で待っとこか。

（な。ほなさきにえきまえでまっとこか。）

Yeah. Let’s wait in front of the station first.

アヤ：うん。先輩来はったら、たこ焼き行こ。

Yep. When he gets here, let’s go get takoyaki.

Dialogue 2

Situation:

田中（後輩）and 橋本（先輩）are employees at a Izakaya in Osaka.

They are talking about their 店長 (store manager).

田中：もう帰りはったんですか？

（もうかえりはったんですか？）

Has he already gone home?

橋本：うん、さっき帰りはったで。

（うんさっきかえりはったで。）

Yeah, he left a little while ago.

田中：店長、今日もはよ来はりましたね。

（てんちょうきょうもはよきはりましたね。）

The manager came early again today, didn’t he?

橋本：朝から来てはって、ずっと電話してはったわ。

（あさからきてはってずっとでんわしてはったわ。）

He’s been here since the morning and has been on the phone the whole time.

田中：最近忙しそうですよね〜。

（さいきんいそがしそうですよね〜。）

He seems busy lately, doesn’t he?

橋本：まあ、あの人は大丈夫や。サボる時はサボりはるから笑

（まああのひとはだいじょうぶや。さぼるときはさぼりはるから）

Well, he’ll be fine. He slacks off when he wants to, so… (laughs)

田中：たしかに笑　この前寝てはりましたもんね笑
